You’ve seen the return of the Afros this season, below are the steps to get the look.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Shampoo
  • Leave-in Spray Conditioner
  • Hair Crème
  • Brush & Comb

Step1
This style works well for thick coarse hair texture.
Step2
Shampoo and do not dry hair.
Step3
Oil the scalp using the hair crème.
Step4
Spray conditioner evenly throughout hair.
Step5
Now it’s time to braid the hair. The hair must be wet using the conditioner and hair crème for each braid.
Step6
Start at the nape of the neck and section the hair in 3 inch squares.
Step7
As you create a section, spray conditioner and apply crème. Brush hair to smooth before braiding.
Step8
Let the hair dry naturally over the next 2 or 3 days. Use a silk scarf when sleeping.
Step9
Oil the scalp and braids the night before you unbraid the hair to retain moisture.
Step10
This curly hairstyle will last at least a week and always use a scarf while sleeping.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can accessorize with headbands, pins, and scarves.

on 1/26/2008 Thank you for the step by step - I needed to find something to do with my hair in between salon visits. Now that my hair is so much longer (12 inches longer than in my photos) I need something that eliminates using the blow dryer. Forget trying to put rollers. So thanks!
