So your skateboard is rolling a bit slow and you need access to those bearings. But how do I get those out? It's a lot easier than you may think so follow along.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Skateboard wheel with bearings inside
  • Allen wrench, preferably a 5mm
  • Triflow lube
  1. Step 1

Once you've taken your wheels off your skateboard. Hold your wheel with the bearing side up.

  2. Step 2

Take your allen wrench and stick the short end inside the hole where your skateboard axel usually goes.

  3. Step 3

Get the short end of the allen wrench far enough in until when you tilt your allen wrench approximately 50 degrees you can feel the short edge grip the outter edge of the bearing. Use caution on this step so that you don't dent the metal shield on the outside of the bearing. Denting is no good.

  4. Step 4

Once you get your allen wrench on the outter edge of your bearing, use your allen wrench in sort of a prying motion to get your bearing out. Go in a circular motion so that you pry up more than one edge. You're going to exert a fair amount of force to get them out. If you feel that it's too hard, put a small amount of lube on the outside of the bearing between the wheel.

  5. Step 5

Do step 4 for the rest of the bearings. Once you've got your bearings out of the wheel they're now ready to be cleaned.
