How to Get the Most Out of Fable Training

In the beginning of Fable, your hero must go through training at the Hero's Guild before he can strike out on his own. There are several tricks you can use to get the most out of training and ensure your hero has a solid start in life.

Instructions

1. Race the apprentice. As you exit the main guild hall, there are 2 apprentices (guys in white) standing next to a statue on your right. One of them claims to be the fastest apprentice in the guild. You can challenge his time for renown. The trick is to hold down the run button and stay as close to the right hand side of your path as you can. You can try again if you fail!

2. Collect apples. Scattered along the path leading from the training area to the guild woods are 5 red cooking apples. Take these to the servant standing in the building behind the archery range. She will trade the apples for a slice of apple pie. (You may have to talk to her twice if you collect the apples before you get the quest to find them.)

3. Try to beat Whisper! If you manage to score an A+ at melee combat training against Whisper, the guild trainer will award you with an Iron Katana! This will give you a much sharper edge when you first leave the guild.

4. Archery grading. The trick to high scores at archery contests is to pick the best spot where you can hit all 3 ranges of target easily, then just leave your crosshair there and keep shooting. Hint: try the spot just to the right of the castle wall in the back, zoom in once and let fly.

5. Will grading. The key here is quick trigger firing. As with all training, you can do this as much as you need to, and an A+ will score you a Resurrection Vial and a Will Potion. These are very handy to have!

6. Play with Whisper. When you finish your first segment of training and are offered a chance to play in the guild woods with Whisper, do so. It'll give you a chance to polish up your archery skills, as well as a chance to earn some experience and renown.

7. Ignore the guy who wants you to kill birds. Unless you want to be evil.

8. Bandit clothing. DON'T WEAR IT IN TOWN! People will run from you!
