How to Remove Colored Halloween Hairspray from Clothing

Halloween is a spooky and fun night. Dressing up and becoming someone else is fun, and an easy way to transform yourself is with colored hairspray. It comes in many different colors and is a cheap alternative to a wig. But it often ends up on your clothes before you even leave the house. Here is an easy solution to removing the hairspray color from your clothes.

Things You’ll Need:

Liquid detergent
Warm water and sink
Washing machine

Step1

Place the garment in the sink and run the stained area under warm water. Move the garment back and forth under the water making sure that the water that is running out of the garment is colored. Squeeze out the garment and continue running it through the water. This should remove most of the hairspray. When water runs clear or close to clear, turn the water off and squeeze out the excess water from the garment.

Place the garment in your washer. Using a liquid detergent, pour a whole capful on top of the garment making sure you get some on the stained area. Let the garment sit in your washer for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the washer on a warm gentle cycle.

Step3

Remove the garment after washing and check for stains. The stains should be gone. If not, repeat the washing process. If the stains are removed, lay the garment flat to dry or line dry. Do not dry it in the dryer.

Tips & Warnings

Make sure the stains are removed before drying. Drying the garment before the stain has been removed can set the stain and make it impossible to remove.
Cover yourself with a towel to keep clothing stains to a minimum.
Applying the hairspray outside can help eliminate staining.
