Make a Dirty Pina Colada
Make a Dirty Pina Colada

Maybe you've had a nice pina colada in Hawaii, or possibly a lovely one made right in your own blender, but have you ever had a "dirty" pina colada? Try it for a twist on an old favorite!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dark Rum
  • Light rum
  • Cream of Coconut (Not coconut milk! Cream. Try 'Coco Lopez' brand)
  • Pineapple Juice (Dole makes a great juice)
  • Blender
  • Crushed ice or ice cubes
  • Shot glass
  • Measuring cups
  • Garnish: Paper umbrellas, pineapple slices, maraschino cherries, olive picks (like plastic swords)
  1. Step 1

Fill your blender half way with ice.

  2. Step 2

Pour 1/2 cup of cream of coconut over ice.

  3. Step 3

Pour 1/2 cup of pineapple juice over ice.

  4. Step 4

Pour 1/3 cup light rum over ice.

  5. Step 5

Blend. If it's too watery, add more ice and reblend. It should be a thick but pourable slush.

  6. Step 6

Pour into glasses until there's only a 1/2 inch of room left at the top of the glass. There are pina colada-specific glasses, but any good wine glass will do.

  7. Step 7

Fill a shot glass with dark rum and pour over top of the white pina colada -- the dark rum should make nice brown rivers down the inside of the glass.

  8. Step 8

Garnish with paper umbrellas, and a skewered slice of pineapple with a cherry.

  9. Step 9

    Serve and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you'd like to weaken the drink, leave out the light rum -- just use the dark rum poured over the top. And by the way, don't drink and drive. It's just not cool anymore.
  • This is a potent drink. Beware -- it tastes very fruity and can sneak up on you.
