How to Peel a Pomegranate

Pomegranates are great for desserts, jelly, or just as a healthy snack. Peeling a pomegranate can be a great stress reliever. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • pomegranate
  • 1 medium bowl
  • 1 small bowl
  • knife
  • cutting board
  • paper towels
  • about 1/2 hour

Instructions

    • 1

      Cut the top off of your pomegranate so that you can see the juicy seeds called arils.

    • 2

      Use the medium bowl to discard the skin of the pomegranate and the small bowl to hold the arils.

    • 3

      Use your fingernails to pull the skin away from the arils. You will find that the pomegranate will break into sections. Pull to break a section off in order to get to the arils.

    • 4

      Discard the skin of the pomegranate and save the arils in your small bowl. Use the paper towels to clean up your area and hands.

Tips & Warnings

  • Go into this project expecting it to take a little time.

  • Enjoy the process of peeling and saving the juicy arils.

  • Pomegranate juice stains, so be careful!

    When I was little Growing up in North Park San Diego Our Neighbor had a Pomegranate tree and would always hand them out to us kids. We would all go home Stained yet satisfied! Wish I had this article back then! WOuld have saved me a lecture or two
