Step 1
Consider a buzz cut. Short buzz cuts are coming back in style and are super easy to keep looking great (no combing required!). The sides and back are clipped very short, usually ¼ to ½ an inch long. The top can be clipped the same length or left slightly longer if desired. Styling doesn’t get much easier than this hair cut—super short hair only needs to be towel dried, while hair that if left a little longer on top can have some hair gel applied to it and either slicked forward or spiked up.

Step 2
Consider a tradtional cut. The traditional boy’s hair cut is always in style and looks great on all little men. A smaller version of the businessman’s hair cut, this style is layered short on the sides and back to keep the hair neat in appearance. The top is layered as well, but left slightly longer. Styling can be as easy as combing it every morning, or adding some gel and being creative if that’s your little guy’s style.

Step 1
Consider the hair's texture. This type of style works best on hair that is fine to medium in texture. Boys with very thick hair will probably have trouble controlling this length of hair without it always looking messy.
-
Step 2
Consider layers. Long hair is not as “in” as it once was on boys but it doesn’t mean they can’t have some length to their hair. Wearing it in slightly longer layers, with the hair at the sides falling to the middle or ends of the ears and some length left in the back, is still a very trendy boy’s hair cut.

Step 3
Consider how much time you want to dedicate to styling. This hairstyle requires more styling maintenance and may be too much for younger boys, but those that are able to style their own hair may like the options with this boy’s hair cut. Using some styling cream or pomade, apply the product to damp hair and blow dry the hair until dry or only slightly damp. Use fingers to style the hair for that “messy” look and add a little spray of hair spray if needed. Think Owen Wilson for a good example of this hairstyle.
