Tipping the concierge isn't necessary unless she or he does something special for you.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Keep small bills available for the purpose of tipping.

  2. Step 2

Remember to take advantage of the services offered by a concierge, who can be a great source of information.

  3. Step 3

Tip $5 to $10 in a first-rate hotel, depending on the concierge's efforts. If he or she helps you find a limo, obtains great seats at the opera or recommends a wonderful out-of-the-way restaurant, reward the service with a tip.

  4. Step 4

Make a mention of your gratitude when handing over the gratuity.

Tips & Warnings
  • The word "tip," which originated in England, was originally an acronym for the phrase "to insure promptness."

on 7/3/2006 Tip based on the service received:
Basic hotel information (maps, guides, advice) = $0-$5 Restaurant Reservation (depends on the day - ease of making the reservation) $5-$10
Tickets to show or ballgame $20 - ++

Always tip. Concierges work to know everything about what you need during your stay, and if they do not know (for whatever reason) they will find out for you. They also have a very hard job standing for 8 hours at a time answering the same questions over-and-over.

Tip your concierge, and he/she will provide you with a tip.
