Help your children develop healthful habits while they're still young. These guidelines follow the recommendations of the U.S. Department of Education.

Things You'll Need:

  • Antibacterial Soaps
  • Children's Multivitamins
  • Combs
  • Facial Tissues
  • First Aid Kits
  • Hairbrush
  • Multivitamins
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothpaste
  1. Step 1

    Teach your child to wash his or her hands to combat germs and to wash injuries to prevent infection.

  2. Step 2

    Advise your child to stay away from people who are coughing or sneezing and to cover his or her mouth with a tissue when sneezing or coughing.

  3. Step 3

    Advise your child not to share hairbrushes, toothbrushes, combs or cups.

  4. Step 4

    Teach your child to keep his clothes clean, take baths and brush his or her teeth daily.

  5. Step 5

    Explain the concept of the immune system and the relationship of sleep, diet and exercise to good health.

  6. Step 6

    Point out the benefits of vaccinations.

  7. Step 7

    Teach your child basic first aid.

  8. Step 8

    Talk to your child about the negative health consequences of drugs and alcohol.
