Entrepreneurship has plenty of downs along with the ups - how do you stay optimistic when you are worried about losing money or going out of business?

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Business Books
  • Counseling For Depression
  • Banks
  • Business Loans
  • Business Services
  • Career Counseling
  • Legal Services

Step1
Be realistic about your goals: avoid setting insane expectations you can't possibly meet.
Step2
Surround yourself with positive people - family, partners and employees.
Step3
Turn disappointments and failures into positive opportunities and realize that most successful entrepreneurs built success from failure.
Step4
Think about how you talk to yourself. Tone down the negative chatter and the "I told you so!"
Step5
Keep visualizing your dreams and believe that you will achieve them.

Tips & Warnings

  • Developing a positive attitude takes practice, especially if you are a worrier by nature.
  • Catch yourself when you start to brood or feel down, and turn it around in your head. For example, if a customer takes his or her business elsewhere, think, "Great, now I will have more time and energy to serve someone else more suitable for my business. I wonder who that will be!"
  • Even the most optimistic people have times when they feel down. Don't expect happiness to be a constant companion. Rather, when you do feel a little down, struggle to boost yourself up.
  • You will find this more difficult if you are married to, living with or employing a very negative person. Defend yourself from other people's negativity.

on 11/22/2005 It's not easy, but you won't fail if you don't give up. My new Web site (risingbread.com) took me a lot of work to set up, yet the hits are not coming in. I tell myself that I need to promote my site more and, when enough people know about it, it'll work!
