Avoid problems by researching cellular phones and service providers carefully, and by reading and understanding the contract before signing up. When you have a problem, take these steps to achieve resolution.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Cellular Phone Accessories
  • Cellular Phone Handsfree Car Kits
  • Cellular Phone Headsets
  • Cellular Phone Services
  • Cellular Phones

Step1
Call 611 on your cellular phone when you are experiencing difficulty with your service. Most customer service departments can be reached this way.
Step2
Examine your bills. Call customer service to clarify or contest unusual or unexpected charges.
Step3
Document your efforts to seek resolution with your service provider. Routinely record the date, the name of the person with whom you spoke, and details of your conversation.
Step4
Save copies of e-mail and letters. (See "Write a Complaint Letter," under Related eHows.)
Step5
Notify the Federal Communications Commission and file either an informal or formal complaint if necessary.

Tips & Warnings

  • Enlist the help of one of the customer complaint sites that have sprung up. UGetHeard.com offers templates for you to type your complaint, along with what you would like the company to do. It then forwards the complaint to the company and follows up. Feedback Direct and The Complaint Station, likewise, will send complaints to the appropriate parties and will log in the number of complaints a company receives.

on 11/22/2005 Asking for a supervisor won't always get what you want. These days reps can do everything sups can so asking for a sup won't get you any more, in fact you actually might find yourself in a worse position.

on 11/22/2005 If you are not getting the response you had hoped for despite your politeness, kindly ask to speak with the customer representative's supervisor. Continue in this vein until you receive some assurance of a settlement to your problem.
