How to Pack for a Trip to St. Louis

Rate: (1 Ratings)

St. Louis residents enjoy a variety of activities from business meetings to dining out to mingling at the city's hottest jazz and blues clubs. Always consult the weather report before you pack, and remember that except for formal business situations, casual is nearly always acceptable.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Shorts
  • Sandals
  • Tank tops
  • Walking Shoes
  • Sweaters
  • Warm coats
  • Hats

Step1
Check the long-term St. Louis forecast on The Weather Channel Web site (weather.com). Plan your travel wardrobe on the basis of expected temperatures and precipitation.
Step2
Take a warm coat and hat in winter. January highs average 37 degrees F and there are usually several days of snow. Layering is a great idea, because you'll want to shed your coat when you get inside.
Step3
Plan to stay cool in summer. With an average July high temperature of 89 degrees F, the weather calls for light fabrics, sandals and shorts. Throw in a sweater in case you get chilly while inside air-conditioned buildings.
Step4
Take business attire if you're doing business in the city, but don't forget something chic and trendy if you plan to do club-hopping in the evening.
Step5
Add a pair of comfortable shoes, especially if you'll be doing a lot of sightseeing on foot.

Tips & Warnings

  • Non-skid shoes are important if you will be walking around when there's ice or snow on the ground.
  • Don't forget extras like sunscreen, hand lotion and lip balm, which are important in any season.
  • Tuck in an umbrella and a raincoat for those surprise summer thunderstorms or winter rain or snow.
