Stay Fresh at Your Summer Wedding

Summer is an ideal time to have your wedding, but soaring temperatures can wreak havoc with your hair and makeup, not to mention your system. Prevention is key to staying fresh and flawless.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Face-blotting Papers
  • Purse Mirrors
  • Cold Water
  • Body Lotion
  • Deodorants
  • Eyeliners
  • Face Powder
  • Facial Tissues
  • Powder Puffs
  • Sunscreen
  • Waterproof Mascaras
  1. Step 1

Make sure your body lotion contains sunscreen so that exposed areas, such as your arms, décolletage, shoulders and upper back, don't get burned.

  2. Step 2

Wear a water-based foundation with sunscreen and a lightweight powder. Oil-absorbing formulas tend to cake when met with perspiration, and if you're without sunscreen, you may get a sunburn before the ceremony is complete.

  3. Step 3

Choose waterproof eyeliner and mascara. These products will withstand the heat and shouldn't run if perspiration builds up near your eyes.

  4. Step 4

Keep hydrated. Between sips of Champagne and other spirits, drink chilled - not ice-cold - water to stay cool and avoid overheating.

  5. Step 5

Blot sweat and perspiration with nonpowdered face-blotting papers. Resist the temptation to use pressed powder, which may leave you with an uneven finish.

  6. Step 6

Press a cold compress on the back of your neck and your wrists if you feel your body beginning to overheat.

Tips & Warnings
  • Place small bottles of sunscreen in the bathrooms so your guests have a means of protecting themselves from the rays.
  • Encourage guests to seek the shade or go indoors if the temperatures get unbearable. This is especially important for elderly, very young or somewhat intoxicated guests.

on 11/22/2005 In a small glass bowl, mix a cup of water and 5 drops of eau-de-cologne. Place the bowl in the refrigerator. After an hour or so, remove it from the refrigerator and apply it on your face with cotton (you can do this anytime). This will help you feel better and fresher - an ideal tip for a tired person!

on 11/22/2005 Choose an air conditioned place for the ceremony and the reception. If it is not air conditioned, pick a cool location. Don't forget to choose an air conditioned hotel for the wedding night!

on 11/22/2005 Apply your make up and allow it to set & then LIGHTLY spritz hair spray over your face. Try this tip before the big day (at least 2 weeks) to ensure no reactions(use the hair spray that you're already using!) This works really well for humid weather.
