Choose the search engine you like to use on the Web and type in "mile-a-minute patterns" or "mile-a-minute afghans."
Step2
Refine your search to look for a specific type such as a baby, crochet or knitting mile-a-minute pattern.
Step3
Go to your local library and search the crochet books. Usually, books with a title such as quick and easy patterns or afghans are the best place to begin.
Step4
Check with your friends and co-workers for any patterns they may have.
Step5
Join a crochet/knitting Web ring or chat room for patterns on the Web and book recommendations.
Step6
Design your own pattern. The idea is to make strips of a pattern and then join them with a border.
Tips & Warnings
Type in "mile-a-minute" and "free pattern" to find patterns online.
Go to your favorite yarn, needle or sewing supplies home page on the Web for tips, hints and free patterns.
This pattern style is a good way to use up some of your scrap thread.

I sometimes find it difficult to follow the directions given for a specific design. So what I do is use the follow-the-pictures technique. Then, most of the time, I can figure out just how to make it. If all else fails, I call Mom.
