Instructions

  • Poinsettias
  • Silk Poinsettias
  • Small Pebbles
  • Pumpkins
  • Large Spoons
  • Pumpkin-carving Sets
  • Tree Trimmers
  • Marbles
  • Pumpkins
  1. Step 1

Cut the top off the pumpkin, about one-third of the way down.

  2. Step 2

Make sure the pumpkin sits level. Trim a small amount off the bottom, if necessary.

  3. Step 3

Use a large sturdy spoon to carefully scoop out the inside, leaving the rind intact.

  4. Step 4

Put marbles or small pebbles in the bottom.

  5. Step 5

Layer small evergreen twigs around the rim, securing them with florist's pins.

  6. Step 6

Place a real or silk potted poinsettia in the middle of the pumpkin.

  7. Step 7

Remove or cut a hole in the bottom of the pot's foil wrapper, if you're using a live plant, so that you can water the plant. Water will drain onto the stones in the bottom of the pumpkin.

  8. Step 8

Add extra color, if desired, with small gift boxes or ornaments among the greens.
