Once you've got your wakeboard jumping ability down solid, one of the first tricks to try is the backscratcher.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Learn to jump big air and land smoothly every time.
Step2
Start outside the wake.
Step3
Approach the wake with a lot of speed.
Step4
Hit the wake and pop into a big air.
Step5
Bend your knees 90 degrees to lift the back of the board up behind you.
Step6
Lean back for balance and to complete the "back-scratching" effect. This will counter the momentum of swinging your board up behind you.
Step7
Hold it.
Step8
Straighten your legs out as you start to descend.
Step9
Bend your knees to absorb the impact of your landing.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always wear a properly fitted life jacket and observe boating safety when wakeboarding.
