Until you learn how to cross the wake smoothly and easily, you won't be able to hit those big airs you've been dreaming about. Learn the basics first, and the rest will follow.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Get comfortable on your board riding behind the boat by doing some small simple turns back and forth inside the wake.
Step2
Twist your hips so that your upper body faces the boat while your lower body maintain the forward direction of the board.
Step3
Turn the board to point in the direction you wish to cross the wake.
Step4
Keep your knees bent and flexible to absorb the up and down of the wake as you cross it.
Step5
Cross the wake quickly at first, then as you gain more comfort, cross at a slower, or even much faster, speed.
Step6
Turn your hips and practice crossing both wakes in a single shot, one right after the other.
Step7
Ride onto the wake and try doing little lip tricks by carving up and down on the wake, as you might in surfing. This will help you become supercomfortable with riding on the wake, once you're ready for it.

on 6/30/2006 When cutting, find a spot somewhere on land across from you and just float toward it. If you keep riding it out in that direction you are in good shape. It is the same toe side as it is heel side.
