How to Make a Mocha Hot Chocolate

Add a nice coffee accent to your hot chocolate with this recipe. You might not want to drink it right before bedtime, however. Serves one. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Shaved Chocolate
  • Whipped Cream
  • Coffee Mugs
  • 1-2 rounded tsp. sugars
  • 1/2 c. freshly made coffees
  • 1 rounded tsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 c. milk

Instructions

    • 1

      Prepare coffee using your favorite method.

      Heat milk to steaming (you can use the microwave).

    • 3

      Mix cocoa and sugar in the bottom of a large mug.

    • 4

      Add a few tablespoons of hot milk and stir to blend.

    • 5

      Stir in the rest of the milk, and then add the coffee.

    • 6

      Place a dollop of whipped cream on top and sprinkle with shaved chocolate, cocoa powder or cinnamon.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use an instant cocoa packet, but it won't taste as good.

  • Experiment with proportions of cocoa to coffee.

    I do pretty much the same thing. Accept I use the Hot Cocoa instant mix. I don't really like the taste of the coffee at my work so I take a pack of the instant cocoa with me and mix it in with the hot coffee. Very easy and convenient.
