Now that the 2000 Sydney Olympics have passed, we've decided to keep this page for historical interest.

During the Olympics it's a safe bet that just about any spot in Sydney will be a hot one - or at least a crowded one. But one person's hot spot may be another person's total bust. Follow your own tastes and you'll have plenty of options available to you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Internet Access
  • Computers
  • Travel Planning Software

Step1
Do your dining research ahead of time by checking the Restaurants page at the Fodor's Web site (fodors.com). You can search by food type and price.
Step2
Use Citysearch Australia (citysearch.com.au) to find the hottest bars, dance clubs, live music venues, and karaoke spots.
Step3
Pick up a "Sydney Morning Herald," or check out the paper's Web site (smh.com.au) and view the Visiting pages, which feature stories, reviews and advertisements geared toward entertaining visitors.
Step4
Walk the city streets and pop your head into places that intrigue you.
Step5
Visit the Rocks, a historic district with quaint cobblestone streets that will surely draw crowds.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember that the jewels are not always where the crowds are. Venture a little farther out than others and you'll be rewarded for your extra effort.
