Now that the 2000 Sydney Olympics have passed, we've decided to keep this page for historical interest.

So you have a last-minute itch to get to Sydney, Australia, for the 2000 Summer Olympics? With some ingenuity - and plenty of cash - you may still have a chance! Airfare will cost you and seats are hard to come by, so get busy.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Research airfare availability and prices online at Yahoo.com Travel, CheapTickets.com, Expedia.com, Travelocity.com, or priceline.com - or eBay if you're game for bidding on a ticket.
Step2
Fly with the carriers down under - try Qantas (qantas.com.au) or Air New Zealand (www.airnz.com) - and experience their warmth and charm.
Step3
Contact the official ticket agent of the United States, Cartan Tours Inc., for exclusive travel packages, including tickets to the Olympic events. Visit the company's Web site (cartan.com).
Step4
Know that your flight will be long, and will most likely depart from a West Coast city such as Los Angeles or San Francisco, with possible stop-overs in Honolulu, Hawaii, or Aukland, New Zealand.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do whatever you must - including parting with a lot of cash - to get to the games. Sydney will put on a great show, and the athletes never disappoint.
