Things You'll Need:

  • Book covers
  1. Step 1

Take your child 'back-to-school' shopping a few days before his/her first day. Even if you can only afford a few items, providing some nice, new clothes or accessories will increase the back-to-school excitement.

  2. Step 2

Avoid sending kids back to school directly from an out of town vacation, if possible, to insure the least amount of 'culture shock.'

  3. Step 3

Promise your child a Friday night pizza pig-out, or a slumber party, at the end of their first week. This will provide something to look forward to as he/she trudges through those first days.

  4. Step 4

Help your child cover new school books in brightly colored paper, stickers & markers to make studying seem like a fun endeavor.

  5. Step 5

Participate in your child's school schedule. Show an interest in the classes, and your own energy may be contagious!
