Simple preventive maintenance for a television is a good investment. Protect your expensive electronic product with a little care.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Televisions
  • Window Cleaner
  • Paper Towels
  • Silica Gel Packs
  • soft, lint-free cloths

Step1
Clean dust and debris out of the television's vents and speakers with a soft cloth.
Step2
Make sure the television is not exposed to water or excessive moisture and that the area is well-ventilated. If moisture is unavoidable in your viewing area, place small packages of silica around the back of the TV to absorb moisture.
Step3
Spray a cloth with window or eyeglass cleaner to clean the television screen, and dry with a paper towel or soft cleaning cloth. Use a special electronics dusting spray for the television's cover.

Tips & Warnings

  • Read the owner's manual for your television; most will list common problems to watch for and prevent.
  • Reduce interference between your VCR and television by attaching a sheet of aluminum foil to the shelf between them.
  • Attempt basic repairs only if you are confident of your skills. Study your warranty first; doing repairs yourself may invalidate the manufacturer's coverage of the product.
