Instructions

    • 1

Make sure your blender is strong enough to grind ice cubes.

    • 2

Wash and trim the strawberries, removing any white spots or pieces of leaf or stem.

    • 3

Fill the blender half-full with ice. This is the key; the ice must be the first thing the blender grinds up.

    • 4

Add the tequila, Triple Sec and lime to the blender, and top it off with as many strawberries as you can fit into the blender.

    • 5

      Cover the blender carefully.

    • 6

Start blending the drink by "pulsing" the blender in a few short bursts. This helps break apart the ice cubes without jamming the blender.

    • 7

Watch the blender - if it jams, gently shake it to free any ice cubes stuck in the blades. If that fails, use a long wooden spoon to free the area around the blades.

    • 8

After the first few pulses, run the blender continuously until all the ingredients have been blended into a slushy mixture.

    • 9

Pour into serving glasses garnished with a slice of lime. Serve immediately.

Tips & Warnings

  • It's important that the ice be ground up first. If the berries get ground up first, they'll puree too finely and the drink will lose some of its texture. Some bartenders start with chipped ice.

  • The best tequila for this recipe is common gold tequila or white 100 percent agave tequila. Avoid tequilas marked "reposado" or "anejo." These have been aged in wood, and while they're great for sipping, they blend poorly in a fruit margarita.

  • If you like a very sweet margarita, use sliced, frozen strawberries in syrup instead of fresh strawberries.

I'm improvising due to not wanting to run out on XMAS eve, opting to use a frozen bacardi strawberry mixer in lieu of fresh berries; wish me luck, cuz this recipe sounds like DA BOMB! thanks

Past experience has shown me that you should put all liquids in the blender first, the fruit(if applicable) second, ice third, and do the blending last. Most importantly, margaritas taste the best straight-up! ENJOY!!!
