Your kids will love these customized coloring books. Making them together is half the fun. Coloring the books can be saved for quiet times, special trips and holidays.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Buy a gigantic, ultra-cheap clip art collection online or at an office supply store or mass merchant. They cost $10 to $20, and one CD may contain over 40,000 images.
Step2
Pick a theme: a camping trip, back to school, a trip to the beach or a special event that your family is about to attend.
Step3
Sit down with your child and explore the images in the clip art collection. Find his favorites that fit with the chosen theme.
Step4
Print out a batch of 5 to 10 images and staple them together.
Step5
Put the coloring book away in a special place until the time is right: getting in the car for the trip, arriving at the campsite, arriving at Grandma's house, etc.
Step6
Watch your kid's face light up when he gets to color in the pictures he selected.

on 4/7/2007 Try using photo software (like Kodak Easy Share) to change family photos using the special effects "coloring book" option. This changes photos from traditional color to just black outline. Some pics work better than others.

on 11/22/2005 You can search the internet for free clip art images to use instead of buying a disk of images. The web has many, many clip art images you can download for free, as well as many free coloring pages you can print out. I've made my kids many coloring books for free from the internet.
