Revive the art of letter writing by penning a love letter to that woman or man who makes your head spin. Here's how to write a love letter to your same-sex girlfriend or boyfriend.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Envelopes
  • Pens
  • Scrap Papers
  • Stationery
  • Pens
  1. Step 1

Decide why you're writing the letter and stick to the point - whether it's to tell your partner that you love him or her after all these years or to apologize to a promising potential mate for a horrible date. No one likes it when you beat around the bush.

  2. Step 2

    Keep your letter short.

  3. Step 3

Remind the recipient how lucky you are to be together, since finding people to date is often difficult for gays and lesbians.

  4. Step 4

Use humor if you know how and you think he or she will understand it, but remember that sarcasm doesn't translate well on the written page.

  5. Step 5

Tell the recipient why you love him or her, not just that you do. Putting that sentiment into words will prove that you really are in love.

  6. Step 6

Be creative in choosing paper - or don't use paper at all. A textured paper that you've ripped along the edges would be rustic and unique, as would a freshly starched cloth napkin that you've sprayed with your cologne or perfume.

  7. Step 7

Write the letter in your own handwriting, if possible, even if it's barely legible. That makes the letter even more personal and unique.

  8. Step 8

Date the note for a record of when it was written.

  9. Step 9

Deliver the letter in an unconventional way - the sneakier the better.

  10. Step 10

Include a small gift in the envelope, if you use one. For example, many bookstores sell flat copper or tin bookmarks that slide neatly into envelopes.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may want to make a draft of your letter on scrap paper before you actually write it out. That way, you'll be less likely to go on too long or make mistakes.
  • Sure, you can e-mail a love letter, but that method isn't as private or as personal as handwriting. If you're both techies, there's nothing wrong with using e-mail, but consider handwriting a letter on another occasion.
