An old-fashioned pair of cotton sweats is more ideal for watching TV than hitting the road. Take advantage of the new fabrics on the market and you'll be better prepared to exercise in various conditions.

Things You'll Need:

    Cold Weather Climate

  1. Step 1

    Choose socks that fit well and can wick away moisture.

  2. Step 2

    Wear a top of synthetic fibers such as polyester to wick moisture away from the skin.

  3. Step 3

    Choose Lycra tights or loose pants in a cotton/polyester blend.

  4. Step 4

    Add a layer of insulation with a long-sleeved fleece top or sweatshirt.

  5. Step 5

    If rain or snow is a possibility, add a jacket and pants in a water-resistant breathable fabric.

  6. Step 6

    Add gloves and a fleece hat or headband for extra protection from the elements.

  7. Warm Weather Climate

  8. Step 1

    Choose socks that are shaped like the foot and fit snugly.

  9. Step 2

    Select a top that won't bind, such as a regular cotton T-shirt or a synthetic blend tank.

  10. Step 3

    Find bottoms that allow ease of movement and are cool, such as shorts or tights in a synthetic fiber or cotton blend.

  11. Step 4

    Add a cap or visor to protect from the sun.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep extremities covered in cold weather.
  • Never wear absorbent material next to the skin, especially in cool weather. It will turn clammy and could give you a chill.
