It's legal in Canada, and American law accepts marriages performed in that country.
Just do some research into what part appeals to you as a wedding location.
Toronto's the biggest city, and in Ontario (the province that has done the most gay marriages so far), but is also the ugliest. Ottawa's also in Ontario, but it's smaller and a touch friendlier.
Montreal is a beautiful city, and most of the hotel managers speak English even if everybody else doesn't.
Victoria, the City of Gardens, is also beautiful, and right off the coast of Washington state.

Of course it won't be legally recognized here - but that's not what matters. What matters is the couple had a ceremony that joined them together in their own hearts. That's what matters. In my opinion, of course. There are also officiants out there (just google it!) who will perform commitment ceremonies in their state - and if/when same sex unions are legal, they will perform a true marriage ceremony for them for free!
