How to Make Paper Fireplace Logs
You can use these easy-to-make decorative paper logs for starting fires in your fireplace. The more wax you add, the longer the logs will burn. Do not use these logs in wood-burning fireplaces as wax can make a mess of them.

Open newspapers flat.

Start at one end with about five sheets of paper and roll into a log. Roll tightly for a longer burning log.

Continue adding newspaper to the log until it is about 3 to 4 inches in diameter.

Melt down old candle pieces by microwaving them on low power in a glass jar or by putting them in a coffee can in a pan of boiling water.

Dip strands of yarn into wax.

Wrap paper log with yarn dipped in candle wax.

The paper logs with colorful yarn look attractive in a basket next to the fireplace.
It's best to melt wax in an old coffee can or other container you don't care about. Wax can be very difficult to remove.
Melted wax is very hot. It can burn your skin and may catch fire if overheated.
It is very dangerous to burn wax in wood burning stoves or other wood-burners.
