How to Run "Over on Two" in Volleyball

"If your partner has been having a hard time putting the ball away and your opponents are keying on his bad defense, then it's a good time to call the 'Over on Two' play," says Rob Heidger, pro beach volleyball player.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Volleyballs
Step1
Bump pass to the setter.
Step2
Prepare to fake the set with both hands in the setting position and your knees bent.
Step3
Jump up and key in on the ball.
Step4
Freeze your blockers and defenders with your fake set.
Step5
Pull your left hand away and at the last second dink the ball "over on two" with a one-handed shot.
Step6
Direct the ball down and put some speed on it so it will be hard to dig.

Tips & Warnings

  • The fake set must look realistic.
  • Your partner needs to convince the opponents that he is readying to spike your set.
  • Heidger and his teammate, Kevin Wong, are the No. 1 ranked U.S. men's doubles team in beach volleyball. Keep tabs as they aim for their slot in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
