Finish Seams

Though no one will see them, finished seams will give your garment a professional look.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Clip or notch a curved seam allowance before you press it open. This will allow the seam to lie more smoothly.

  2. Step 2

Cut tiny slits into a seam allowance that curves outward. Make sure not to cut into the seam thread.

  3. Step 3

Cut tiny wedges out of a seam allowance that curves inward. Make sure not to cut into the seam thread.

  4. Step 4

Iron the seams open to lie flat.

  5. Step 5

See "How to Keep Raw Edges from Fraying."

Tips & Warnings
  • Occasionaly, a pattern will instruct you to iron a specific seam to one side rather than iron it open.

on 11/22/2005 A curveball should be a little slower than your fastball, but with the same delivery for a little more drop! A good pitch sequence is important. Throw this pitch as a first pitch, or after a fastball.
