Make the old bar scene exciting again by showcasing this trick for all your friends. Or use the trick as a creative opening line with a cute stranger sitting at the bar.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cocktail Recipes
  • Bar Supplies
  • Coasters
  • Cocktail Sets
  • Quarters
  1. Step 1

Balance a coaster on the pad of the middle finger of your nondominant hand.

  2. Step 2

Place a quarter on the coaster. The quarter should lie directly above the pad of your finger.

  3. Step 3

Flick the coaster with your other hand. The blow should be perfectly horizontal and should hit at the center of one side of the coaster.

  4. Step 4

If you've done it right, the coaster should fly out from under the quarter, leaving the quarter sitting on your finger.

Tips & Warnings
  • Practice this trick at home before trying it at a bar. Bartenders and bouncers generally don't like to have rogue coasters and quarters flying all over the place.
  • Make sure no one will be hit by the coaster before you flick it.
  • If you happen to have a deep understanding of the scientific principles behind a particular bar trick, avoid lengthy explanations. People come to bars to have fun, not to hear lectures on kinematics.
