    Buttons and Beads

  1. Step 1

Glue objects to the container, either all over or in patterns - spirals, circles, squares. Use your imagination.

  2. Step 2

Use buttons, beads, seashells, dried pasta shells or macaroni. Items like sequins and pieces of discarded or broken costume jewelry can also be used.

  3. Step 3

Use objects in conjunction with paint to decorate your vase. You can even paint your objects before gluing them onto the container.

  4. Step 4

Allow the paint or glue to dry thoroughly before using the vase.

  5. Paint

  6. Step 1

Turn an old glass or plastic vase (or jar) into an original creation by painting its surface with any design you choose.

  7. Step 2

Use acrylic paints or paint pens to paint flowers, a name or other images onto the vase or jar.

  8. Step 3

Work out your design on paper first and then paint it onto the surface of the container.

  9. Step 4

Cover a container with plain or colored butcher, construction or card stock paper first and then paint your design onto the paper. This is a good way to cover an irreparably blemished surface.

  10. Step 5

Allow the paint to dry thoroughly before using the container.
