The need for speed is the reason to ride a Freebord. Here's how to get the velocity you desire.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Skateboard Helmets
  • Skateboard Pads

Pushing for Speed

Step1
Plant your right foot on the left side of the board to push with your left foot. Plant your left foot on the right side of the board to push with your right foot.
Step2
Try not to push unnecessarily.
Step3
Keep your weight on the side of the board so that you maintain an "edge" at all times.
Step4
Push gently.
Step5
Keep your weight on the same edge as you switch your feet back into a riding position.

Generating Speed While Riding

Step1
Keep the nose of your board pointed as much downhill as you can while still maintaining an edge.
Step2
Lean forward over your board and head downhill.
Step3
Switch quickly from one edge to the other, carving quickly back and forth.
Step4
Push into each carve, causing the wheels to push off the pavement and help generate speed.
Step5
Ride steeper hills for more speed.

Tips & Warnings

  • The key to pushing is to maintain an edge. This will cause your push to curve a little, but if you don't do it, your board will slide out from under you.
  • Always wear full skateboard pads and a helmet when riding your Freebord.
  • A Freebord doesn't handle like a normal skateboard - it will slide to the side and stop suddenly when you catch an edge. Practice extreme caution until you're familiar with the way the board functions.

on 11/22/2005 try replacing the center rocker wheels with hard recreational rollerblade wheels, this not only speeds up the ride, but it makes the board flow better through slide too.

on 11/22/2005 When you start out freebording place the two center wheels closer to the board to start out then when you feel comfortable move it a little bit closer to the ground and so on until it is as close tto the ground as possible this is when you can carve the best.
