How to Maintain a Freebord

Maintaining your Freebord is simple, and is the key to prolonging its life and keeping it functioning properly.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Rags
  • Rags
  • Skateboard Helmets
  • Skateboard Pads
  1. Step 1

    Take the wheels off and clean the bearings with a rag.

  2. Step 2

    Rotate the wheels from back to front and from side to side as they begin to wear down.

  3. Step 3

    Adjust the center wheel closer to the board as the outer wheels start to wear and become smaller.

  4. Step 4

    Make sure all bolts on the board are tight and that nothing rattles or shakes.

  5. Step 5

    Be sure your center pivots smoothly but is not loose or wobbly.

  6. Step 6

    Replace the center wheel when it's worn out.

  7. Step 7

    Replace the outer wheels when they're worn out.

  8. Step 8

    Replace grip tape when it's no longer abrasive.

  9. Step 9

    Replace the deck if it's cracked or broken.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try not to ride in the rain.
  • Be careful not to ride on a broken or damaged board. Because Freebording involves high speed, damage can cause a serious crash.
  • Always wear full skateboarding pads and a helmet when Freebording.
  • A Freebord doesn't function like a normal skateboard - it will slide sideways and stop suddenly when it catches an edge. Practice extreme caution when you're starting out and until you're familiar with the way the board works.
