You mean a lot to your mom, and your support when she comes out as a lesbian is one of the things she needs the most. Take some time and make the effort to show her that you're there for her.

1. Realize that it's about her, and not about you. Even though her coming out may have an impact on you, this is something that your mother is doing for herself.
2. Understand that coming out may be one of the most difficult things your mother has ever had to do, and that by doing so, she is taking a very important step in her own life.
3. Talk about it. Your mother has had some time to prepare for this and expects that you may have issues, concerns and even fears about her coming out. By talking about it with her, you'll be able to work through these things and she'll know that you're there for her.
4. Educate yourself about the issues involved. Being informed will help you understand what your mother may be going through.
5. Write it down. Sometimes taking the time to put your thoughts on paper helps make things clearer. Send your mother a letter or card that lets her know what you're thinking and that you love and support her. Top it off with some flowers. She'll appreciate it.
6. Be happy for her. This is a big step that your mother is taking to make her life better.
7. Be proud of her, and let her know. It takes a strong person to come out.
