A personalized golf shirt will be a special gift for Dad and will help him stand out on the course.

From Quick Guide: Father's Day Guide
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tulle Ribbon
  • Golf Shirts
  • Fabric Paints
  • Paper Towels
  • Paper Towels
  • Paper towels
  1. Step 1

Purchase a solid-colored polo or golf shirt in Dad's size. The shirt should be cotton or a polyester-cotton blend.

  2. Step 2

Select fabric paints in colors that will match the shirt. Use at least two different colors to provide contrast. Paint that comes in a squeeze bottle is easiest to use and creates the least mess.

  3. Step 3

Draw your design on paper first to perfect it. One great design includes a face or stick figure for each child with the words "Dad's Caddies" written across the top (or "Grandpa's Caddies" for a grandfather). Use other designs that appeal to you.

  4. Step 4

Plan where you will place the words and pictures before painting.

  5. Step 5

Place the shirt on a flat surface and smooth out all the wrinkles.

  6. Step 6

Let the children help. Each child can make his or her own face or stick person.

  7. Step 7

Paint the words and pictures on the shirt.

  8. Step 8

Allow the shirt to dry overnight and keep little fingers from poking at the paint.

  9. Step 9

Wrap the shirt and proudly present it to Dad for a terrific surprise.

Tips & Warnings
  • Twist open the paint bottle far enough to get a nice stream of paint but not so far that paint comes out in globs.
  • Wipe off the tip of each bottle after using it.
  • Make the words and pictures large so that the lines don't blur together.

on 11/22/2005 If Dad has to wear a tie for work, have the kids decorate a tie. Keep it low key and fairly subtle. He'll be proud to show it off to co-workers and clients.
