on 11/22/2005 If you are harassed or sexually intimidated because you are gay or lesbian while you are in Amsterdam, don't hesitate to contact the police.

on 11/22/2005 Once you are in Amsterdam, visit the "Pink Point of Presence." Pink Point is a gay and lesbian information kiosk situated at the Homo-monument on the Amsterdam Westermarkt. It is open 7 days a week, from 12 PM till 6 PM. Check out www.pinkpoint.org. They have all the information about the Gay and Lesbian (night-)life in Amsterdam (and a lot of funny souvenirs as well). Have fun in Amsterdam!

on 11/22/2005 Going to many parts of the city, even outside the Red Light District, is rather dangerous. People who look neither Dutch nor Surinamese will likely get harassed. Amsterdam is surprisingly racist and sexist, so watch out.
