Some companies make their feelings about gays and lesbians - one way or the other - known to everyone, while others are more careful about how much information they make readily available. Here are some ways to locate gay-friendly local and national businesses online.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Alternative Lifestyle Magazines
  • Internet Access
  • Computers
  1. Step 1

Start your search at the Gay Financial Network (gfn.com). You'll find hundreds of articles that profile companies and rate their gay-friendliness.

  2. Step 2

Stay with the Gay Financial Network awhile longer and check out its message boards. Take the time to post a message with any specific questions you have, then go back to see if anyone answers you.

  3. Step 3

Find out the latest on shareholder activism that's making a difference at major companies by looking at the Equality Project site (equalityproject.org).

  4. Step 4

Find businesses in your area by looking at the local online gay guide, if there is one. Find a pretty good list of guides at GayGuide.Net.

Tips & Warnings
  • There's nothing stopping you from calling or e-mailing a business directly and asking if it is gay-friendly. Many will answer you. If a company is not willing to answer your questions, don't waste your time with it.
  • If you happen to be looking for gay and lesbian bookstores, stop by BookWire's Gay and Lesbian Booksellers list (bookwire.com).
