As a stepfather, you'll need to allow your stepchildren space to celebrate this day with their father, but you shouldn't forget how important you are to them.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Father's Day Greeting Cards
Step1
Remember that your stepchildren will probably focus on their father on this day.
Step2
Try not to resent the attention the children give their father. Know that you're important to them too, but Father's Day is a day when they're supposed to focus on their father.
Step3
Make arrangements for your stepchildren to spend the day with their father. If this isn't possible, make sure they're able to speak to him on the phone.
Step4
Assist your stepchildren in selecting cards and gifts for their father. This will let both them and their father know that you honor and value his role in their lives. Small gestures like these can help create a good relationship that will make sharing the children a lot easier.
Step5
Avoid expecting gifts or cards for yourself, but if you do receive any, express how much they mean to you.
Step6
Focus your attention on your own father, or on other fathers you know, if the children won't be with you on Father's Day.
Step7
Remind yourself that Father's Day is only one day a year and that you have many other days to spend with your stepchildren.
