How to Make Grapefruit Sorbet

Sorbets are a wonderful dessert after a rich meal or simply on a hot summer day. A dessert wine and elegant cookies complement this grapefruit sorbet nicely. Serves four.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Boil 1 c. wine in a small, heavy saucepan until it has reduced to 1/4 c.

  2. Step 2

    Pour the wine into a large bowl.

  3. Step 3

    Add the grapefruit juice, sugar, corn syrup, grenadine and peel.

  4. Step 4

    Stir until the sugar has dissolved.

  5. Step 5

    Mix in the remaining 3/4 c. wine.

  6. Step 6

    Refrigerate the mixture until cold.

  7. Step 7

    Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer's instructions.

  8. Step 8

    Keep frozen in a covered container.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you don't have an ice cream maker, you can put the sorbet mixture into a freezer-safe covered container and freeze it, stirring about every half-hour so it doesn't freeze into a solid block.
