How to Make Watermelon Sorbet

Watermelons vary in size, so the yield of this recipe is likely to as well. Try using 1/4 of a large melon. Serves four.

  • a 3 1/2- to 4-lb. piece of watermelon
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. fresh lime juice
  • 2 tbsp. Sambuca
  • Groceries
  • Blenders
  • Ice Cream Makers
  • Saucepans

  1. Step 1

    Cut the melon into 1-inch-thick semicircular slices. Chop the flesh coarsely.

  2. Step 2

    Discard the seeds from the melon. Puree.

  3. Step 3

    Heat 1 c. puree with the sugar over medium heat, stirring, until the sugar is dissolved.

  4. Step 4

    Add the remaining puree, lime juice and Sambuca.

  5. Step 5

    Cover and chill the mixture until cold.

  6. Step 6

    Freeze the mixture in an ice cream maker.

  7. Step 7

    Cover the sorbet with plastic wrap and freeze at least 6 hours.
