How to Make Strawberry Sorbet

Lighter than strawberry ice cream but at least as flavorful. Makes about 1 qt. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 c. water
  • 2 qts. strawberries
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice - freshly squeezed
  • Groceries
  • Blenders
  • Citrus Reamer
  • Ice Cream Makers
  • Plastic Food Containers
  • Saucepans
  • Strainers
  • Plastic food containers

Instructions

    • 1

      Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 10 minutes until a syrup forms.

      Add the strawberries and lemon juice to the syrup.

    • 3

      Puree the mixture in a blender.

    • 4

      Strain the mixture with a fine strainer. Press on the solids to extract as much juice as possible.

    • 5

      Put the mixture in an ice cream maker and freeze.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't have an ice cream maker, you can freeze the sorbet in a covered container. Stir every half-hour so the mixture doesn't freeze into a solid block.
