Use a chef's apron for either male or female teachers. This apron makes a good gift for teachers of primary-grade classes as a teacher loves to have an apron on finger-painting day.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Buttons
  • Embroidery Needles
  • Scrap Ribbon
  • Chef's Aprons
  • Embroidery Floss
  • Fabric Paints
  • Fabric Pencils
  • Permanent Markers

Step1
Purchase a white or cream-colored chef's apron.
Step2
Print at the top of the apron the teacher's name and his or her class.
Step3
Let younger children print or write their names with a pencil. Have an adult write over them with a permanent fabric marker or paint.
Step4
Add buttons and ribbon, or paint ABCs or 1-2-3s on the apron around the names to fill in blank spaces.

Tips & Warnings

  • Show older children how to embroider their names on the apron.
  • Kids can also use a nontoxic paint to place their handprints onto the apron and sign their names underneath.

on 11/22/2005 You can have the children sign and decorate smocks for their teachers. We parents do this for the teachers at the beginning of the school year. It gives the kids a feeling of pride and belonging when they see their teacher wearing it.

on 11/22/2005 I purchased an apple stencil, placed the same number of apples on the apron as children in the class, then wrote each child's name inside the apple. Finished with exact number of stars and hearts. Wrote "BEST TEACHER" at the top with date. LOVED IT!
