With a little help from your imagination, textbooks, encyclopedias and the Internet, you can make a unique and fun gift or project for your science teacher.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Decide what you would like to give to your teacher - puzzles, experiments, mind teasers or volunteer work.
Step2
Choose 10 to 20 easy-to-do experiments and prepare a booklet. List the materials needed, steps to complete the experiment, and a brief explanation of what you should expect from this experiment. The library and various Web sites can provide these experiments.
Step3
Design a bulletin board.
Step4
Make plaster prints of animal tracks found around the park or your home. After making a plaster print, mount it on a board and label the track for easy identification.
Step5
Take photos of insects, animals, flowers or any group of subjects, and place them on a poster board with identification. Use both the Latin and common names if possible.
Step6
Volunteer once a month to do an experiment for the class.
Step7
Make word-search or crossword puzzles to match lessons in your science book.

Tips & Warnings

  • Teachers enjoy having students get involved in class work. Many of the experiments or bulletin boards can be entered in science fairs and 4-H or FFA competitions.
  • Use care and all safety precautions when doing experiments.
