A scrapbook makes a wonderful gift, preserving special wedding memories that will last a lifetime. This project will require a lot of work, but you can bet it will be one of the happy couple's most prized wedding gifts.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Acid-free Scrapbooks
  • Scrapbooks
  • Wedding Albums
  • Craft Scissors
  • Acid-free Papers
  1. Step 1

Try to attend every event and visit every place related to the wedding. Take photos, gather mementos and document everything.

  2. Step 2

Get second copies of photos from other people, especially if their shots are better than yours.

  3. Step 3

Take a class on scrapbook making, if necessary, before you begin laying out pages.

  4. Step 4

Buy the best materials. Acid-free papers, die-cut shapes, craft punches and scissors, stickers, mats, permanent ink pens and rubber stamps are the tools of crafty scrapbook makers.

  5. Step 5

Lay out the pages in chronological order, beginning with the couple when they were first dating. Proceed with the engagement, showers, wedding and honeymoon. Include photos, mementos, invitations, party favors, newspaper announcements and brochures of the honeymoon destination.

  6. Step 6

Wrap your gift and present it to the bride and groom after the honeymoon.

Tips & Warnings
  • Consider making a video scrapbook if you've mastered the video camera and can both videotape and edit. Include both photographs and video clips for complete documentation of every aspect of the wedding festivities.
  • You might let the bride and groom know you're planning a special surprise - to explain why you haven't given a gift at the wedding.
  • Putting a scrapbook together is going to be especially difficult if you don't have access to the photos and mementos that will make it meaningful. Close friends and family members are therefore the best ones to make a wedding scrapbook.

on 6/30/2006 When making a wedding scrapbook as a gift - make sure the couple you are giving it to will appreciate it! I made one once, where the couple looked at it once and said, "Next!" If you're putting a lot of time and effort into it, just please make sure it's something the newlyweds will enjoy and appreciate!

on 12/30/2005 I start with the engagement, showers, wedding and rehearsal. Then I finish it with the first year of their marriage through the first anniversary. I make pages with first vacation, first pet, first of all the holidays. I just put mats on the pages so all they have to do is glue on the pictures.

on 11/22/2005 If you already have scrapbooking skills and materials, you can go buy a picture frame with a large white mat border and decorate it with mementos from past occasions (birthday photos, Christmas cards, engagement photos, and any past memories you or the couple have will work).

Just cut and paste any of these unique items around any special photographs you want to celebrate. There are even some companies that make creative scrapbooking frames just for that purpose. You will want to make sure the components are made from acid-free materials if you are going to be placing special keepsakes and photos inside the frame.

What a perfect original gift they will never forget!

on 11/22/2005 Sometimes, when you buy a scrapbook, you don't use all of the pages. In the last pages you haven't used, get the guests to write a little note to the goom and bride.
