How to Make Text on a Web Page Blink Off and On

You can make text blink on and off using the HTML blink tag. You'll need a basic knowledge of HTML (see "How to Learn HTML" under the Related eHows) and an existing Web page.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet Access
  • Microsoft Notepad
  • Web Browsers
  1. Step 1

    Start a text editing program, such as WordPad or EditPad. Locate the Web page and open it.

    Position the cursor before the text that will blink.

    Position the cursor after the text that will blink and type the closing tag:

    Save the page and preview it in a Web browser.

Tips & Warnings
  • Although blinking does draw attention to your text, many Internet users find it annoying. Consider using other HTML tags, such as bold or emp, to add emphasis to your text.
  • Some older browsers, including Internet Explorer 3.0 and earlier, do not support the blink tag. Users will see non-blinking text.
