How to Find Web Pages on the Internet That Link to Your Web Page

Many Web page designers add links from their pages to other pages they like. Find out who's linking to you using popular Internet search engines.

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet Access
  • Web Browsers
  • Search Engines
  1. Step 1

    Go to Google.com and type link:http://www.yoururl.com/ in the search box.

  2. Step 2

    Replace "yoururl" with the name of your Web page. Make sure you are using the exact Web page address (URL).

  3. Step 3

    Click on the Search button to see all the websites that link to yours.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use this feature with any Web page, replacing "yoururl" with the name of the Web page you are seeking.
  • Try using variations on your URL or searching for each page in your Web site. This method will give you a better overall picture of links to your page and will also help you find broken links.
  • If you find a broken link, send a note to the Webmaster explaining that you have moved your Web page. Many Webmasters will appreciate this courtesy.
  • You can also search with the phrase "link popularity" to find websites that specialize in providing reports with this information. Sometimes they're available for free.
  • If you do not want a certain page to link to you, contact the Webmaster with a polite note asking him or her to remove your link from the site.
