How to Flow Text Along a Curved Line in Illustrator

You can make text flow along a curved line in Adobe Illustrator. These instructions apply to Adobe Illustrator 8. Procedures for other versions might vary.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Adobe Illustrator
  1. Step 1

    Open a file or create a new file.

  2. Step 2

    Using one of the drawing tools to create a wavy line.

  3. Step 3

    Using the Selection tool or the Direct Selection tool and select the points if they are not already selected.

  4. Step 4

    Click on the Text tool or the Text Path tool to activate it.

  5. Step 5

    Position the pointer on the path and click. An insertion point appears.

  6. Step 6

    Enter the text you want. The text will curve along the path.

  7. Step 7

    Use the Selection tool or Direct Selection tool to move the text along the line if desired.
