How to Make Wavy or Zigzag Lines in Illustrator

You can make wavy or zigzag lines in Illustrator. These instructions apply to Adobe Illustrator 8. Procedures for other versions may vary.

Things You'll Need:

• Adobe Illustrator

1. Open a file.

2. Draw a line with one of the drawing tools. Be sure that it is not a closed path.

3. Select the line with the selection tool.

4. Choose Zigzag under Distort in the Filters menu. A pop-up window appears.

5. Select Smooth Anchor Points for a wavy line and Corner Anchor Points for a zigzag line.

6. Click OK.

Tips & Warnings

• You can tip the line with an arrow by using Add Arrowhead under Stylize from the Filters menu.
