The trick to being a really good player is to leave the cue ball where you want it after a shot. Making the cue ball stop dead in its tracks after it hits the object ball is called making it "stick."

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Billiard Lighting
  • Bridges For Pool
  • Cue Stick Chalk
  • Pool Balls
  • Pool Cue Carrying Cases
  • Pool Cues
  • Pool Table Covers
  • Pool Table Horsehair Brushes
  • Pool Tables
  • Pool Triangles

Step1
Concentrate on the shot at hand. There is no point worrying about where you leave the ball if you're not going to continue shooting.
Step2
Aim to hit just below the dead center of the cue ball.
Step3
Stroke the cue ball normally.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is hard to make the cue ball stick on new cloth, especially if it's nylon.
  • If your cue ball bounces back a little, you're hitting too low on it.
  • If your cue ball keeps rolling after it hits the object ball, you're not hitting low enough.

on 11/22/2005 This technique is called a stop shot, not stick. It's achieved by one ball hitting the other while it is sliding into it. This shot will depend on the distance of the two balls. This shot only works if the shot is perfectly straight.
